Ratatouille

In the previous post you were introduced to the how Brave fits into Negroni’s theory.

The second movie used in Negroni’s theory is the 2007 Oscar winning Ratatouille, starring Remy, a rat off the street with a big dream. This movie is said to take place in 2007 according to http://www.pixartheory.com/.

Movie Summary:

Taking place in one of Paris’ best restaurants, Remy is introduced along with his pal Linguini, as chefs of a restaurant. There is only one issue… Remy is a rat who can cook, and aspires to become a renowned chef within France. Defying his family’s wishes for his own, both Remy and Linguini will turn the City of Lights upside down.

The Pixar Theory:

As Negroni finishes with his explanation of how Brave fits into his theory, he follows up with the statement “Centuries later, the animals from Brave that have been experimented on by the witch have interbred, creating a large-scale population of animals slowly gaining personification and intelligence on their own.” Animals are gaining personification and intelligence? Where has this occurred before?

He then says that there are two progressions. One is the progression of the animals and the other is the progression of artificial intelligence or the machines. Events that occur in the following movies begin to set up a struggle for power between the machines, humans and the animals. The first progression that he talks about is the animal progression, starting with the movie Ratatouille.

Within the movie we meet Remy, an inspiring chef. The only issue is that Remy is a rat off the streets.

We begin to see the animals experimenting with their still-growing personification by taking on jobs that only humans are known for doing. Through the help of a character in the movie, Remy is given a chance to take on more human jobs, with the help of Linguini.

Throughout the movie Remy takes on a more human personality when in the kitchen, to the point of being able to cook without help from the humans. One example is when Remy is shown making breakfast for Linguini who had yet to get up.

Not only are the animals becoming less afraid as well as taking on a more human personality, but we also see the one person who witnessed the personified animals disappear. Because no one would believe that animals were becoming human, he may have vanished to find more proof with his newfound knowledge of what the animals were undergoing. Chef Skinner was the only person in Ratatouille who saw the animals and did not accept what the animal could do.

That leaves readers with one big question.

If the restaurant was closed due to a rat infestation and Chef Skinner disappears, does the story of Chef Remy, the cooking rat, spread?
